“What is an ACE-graded Charizard worth?” is the beginning of a search, not a complete pricing question. Charizard appears on many cards with different artwork, numbers, sets and languages. A grade-10 promotional card and a grade-10 special illustration card are not interchangeable simply because the character and grade match.

This guide covers the eight most frequently recorded eligible Charizard catalogue identities in our 1 June to 31 August 2026 snapshot. It gives each grade its own median and range, with links to the underlying history. It is a dated research guide, rather than a list of prices a buyer is guaranteed to pay today.

Identify the exact Charizard first

Start with the full collector number, the expansion and the card's printed name. Keep suffixes such as ex, V, VMAX and VSTAR. A numerator alone can recur across sets; a promotional prefix can be part of the identity rather than decoration.

Next check the language, edition and artwork against the card and slab photographs. Similar English and Japanese artwork does not prove the same release. Special versions, stamped promos and different finishes also need their own evidence when they represent different products.

The tracker groups these tables by matched catalogue identity. Listing titles do not consistently declare language, so the broader tables below are not controlled English-only comparisons. That is why a median here can differ from the more selective ACE 9 versus ACE 10 study, even when the card name is the same.

Recorded prices by card and ACE grade

The median is the middle recorded price, while the range includes the lowest and highest eligible observations. Counts refer to listing records, not independently authenticated slabs. A one-record row is displayed as one observation; it is not enough to establish a dependable market level.

This selection is based on record frequency, not a judgement that these are the best cards to buy. Other identities, including Paldean Fates Charizard ex 234/091, have their own histories outside this eight-card table. A card's absence from the selection does not establish a low value or a lack of collector interest.

Read the listings behind the numbers

Large ranges are a signal to investigate. Check the dates, photographs and listing wording at the low and high ends. Differences can reflect timing, label presentation, included accessories, seller conditions or a record that needs correction. We do not automatically delete every surprising price merely because it would make a table look tidier.

A grade-10 median should be compared with another grade-10 cohort of the same identity. An overall average that mixes many 9s with a few 10s answers a different question. The number of examples in each grade also matters: two similarly priced records can create a deceptively narrow range.

Watch for seller descriptions of “perfect”, subgrades or first edition. Those phrases need checking against the actual item; they are not independently verified quality badges in this research. A seller's asking price for an unsold slab is a separate type of evidence from the recorded sold observations shown here.

The underlying archive can contain accepted-offer uncertainty and inconsistent treatment of postage. A sold listing can also be cancelled or returned. Treat a source record as an auditable observation, not a receipt establishing final proceeds.

A high graded price is not the same as a worthwhile submission

If you already own a raw Charizard, compare net graded outcomes with the amount you could receive by selling raw. Include the chosen grading service, label, delivery and selling expenses. A hypothetical 10 should not be the only row in the decision.

For example, some promotional Charizard rows show much larger differences between 9 and 10 than between 8 and 9. That is a reason to examine the evidence and lower-grade scenario, not a reason to assume that a raw copy will receive the most valuable result.

Our ACE grading cost guide separates purchase profit from the additional return over selling raw, and works through the current service fees. Keep the date of those costs separate from the dates of the historical sales you are using.

Build a current estimate from the dated guide

Open the relevant card history and start with recent records for the grade and version you own. If that produces too few observations, extend the period and say so. Avoid moving between a recent average and an old record high simply to reach a preferred asking price.

Write down a range and its evidence: card identity, language, grade, period, number of observations and any listings excluded after review. Keep your target asking price separate from an estimate of completed-sale proceeds. The former is a choice; the latter needs support.

For a repeatable process, follow the six-step sold-price valuation guide. For the exceptional end of the archive, see the largest recorded ACE Pokemon observations, remembering that a historical maximum is not a typical comparable.

Frequently asked questions

Is there one price for an ACE 10 Charizard?

No. The set, collector number, artwork, language, edition and grade identify different comparables. A price for one Charizard cannot be applied to every Charizard slab.

Are these prices live valuations?

The article uses a fixed 1 June to 31 August 2026 observation window captured on 5 September. Linked card histories can contain newer records.

Why can the grade-comparison article show a different median?

That article includes only titles explicitly declaring English and requires observations in both grades. This guide groups catalogue identities more broadly and labels the language limitation.

Evidence and sources

Compiled by ACE Grading Sales Tracker from retained eBay UK listing observations. A recorded amount is not independent confirmation of payment, delivery or the absence of a return. Catalogue matches can still contain mistakes.

Corrections should identify the article, listing ID and evidence being challenged. A revised report should carry an updated review date and describe a material change to its sample or calculation.
